Peanut butter as a meat substitute
Are you vegan? No, I'm Judith
If Judith had to describe herself in 3 words, she would choose fair, enthusiastic and animal lover. The latter will not surprise most people because Judith is better known online as the BonusVegan. With her website and Instagram account she shows how easy it is to eat plant-based. She shows which plant-based products are available in the supermarket, shares recipes and answers all your questions about veganism. She does not have a single source of inspiration. She simply admires everyone who contributes to making the world a better place. For example, she mentions the increasing number of vegan products in the supermarket, but she also mentions the plant-based proteins that we use in our Sport peanut butter.
As a vegan in the supermarket
Fortunately, the search for plant-based products in the supermarket is becoming easier. There is often a V-label on the product or the price tag is green. Are you still in doubt? Then you can use the Is it vegan app. With it, you scan the barcode of a product and immediately find out whether it is plant-based. It is important to know that not all meat substitutes are equally good for you. Some processed products score low in nutritional values. This means that your body can extract few useful nutrients from them. That is why it is better to choose products such as hummus, tofu or peanut butter. These are pure products that score high in vitamins, minerals and proteins. This certainly does not only apply to meat substitutes. It is good to be aware of what you eat, even if you choose animal products. What plant-based products do not contain is vitamin B12. You can only get this from animal products. As a vegan, it is therefore best to take a B12 supplement.
Tip for (non) vegans
Judith wants to inspire everyone. That includes vegans, but also people who want to eat plant-based every now and then. She recommends starting small. See what you can 'veganize' to your normal diet or find a replacement product for something you just finished. The most important thing in that search is that making mistakes is not bad. Nobody can be a perfect vegan!
Judith's guilty pleasure
Judith prefers to start her day with a shake of banana, peanut butter and cacao. Tasty and healthy. But every now and then a glass of wine with a bag of Crocky paprika chips on the side are a must in her life.
